Outdoor Gallery is a response action where city spaces used as a canvas. Main motivation is to engage with a wide range of people in the society, as well as to generate artworks that can be accessed anytime and for free. The aim is to revitalise spaces and social bonds. Locals donate spaces to paint - residential buildings, business buildings, schools, and parks. The community do have a say in the works that are being developed. This response action encourages the residents to take charge and look after their walls/works as well. Dulwich Outdoor Gallery is a succesful example for this kind of response action. The Outdoor Gallery is a collection of murals painted by some of the top international street artists who based their work on Baroque era paintings at Dulwich Picture Gallery (England's oldest public art gallery). The project was initiated by Ingrid Beazley from the Dulwich Picture Gallery in 2012 who collaborated with various international artists. The project sparked engagement between artists and the residents (wall owners, their families, neighbours, etc.). As an intermediate outcome, project also brought attention to the Dulwich Picture Gallery and started to bring in different demographics than its usual audience.
